Reflector: a mirror, and the time it needs

You change with people, places and days — to the point of wondering who you actually are. That is not instability: it is the rarest configuration in the system, and it reads differently.

No defined centres

The Reflector is the only configuration in which none of the nine centres is defined. The entire bodygraph is open.

An open centre is not empty: it is porous. It picks up and amplifies what surrounds it. In other types only a few centres are in that state. In a Reflector, it is the whole system.

Hence the very commonly reported sensation of changing with people, places and days — to the point of doubting there is a self underneath.

It is the rarest type: roughly 1% of the population.

A mirror, not a weathervane

The reading that makes the type livable comes down to one shift: the Reflector does not fluctuate, they reflect.

Their function in the system is that of a barometer. They perceive the quality of a place, a team, a relationship with a precision other types do not have — because they temporarily become its mirror.

What that changes in practice:

• The useful question is not “who am I today” but “who and where am I with today”.
• Persistent discomfort more often reports on the environment than on the person.
• The choice of place and company is not one parameter among others: it is the structural decision of the type.

The lunar cycle: why 28 days

Other types have an inner authority — a bodily response, an emotion that settles, an intuition. A Reflector has none of these in a stable form, since nothing is defined.

Their reference is therefore external and regular: the Moon, which runs through the full cycle of configurations in about 28 days. Over that span, a Reflector passes successively through every possible colouring of their own system.

In practice, for a major decision:

1. Let a full cycle pass before committing. A move, a professional commitment, a relationship.
2. Watch how the question evolves week by week. What stays appealing across every phase is probably right; what only appealed in a passing state was not.
3. Talk it through with several trusted people, at different moments. Hearing their own thinking out loud is, for this type, a more reliable clarifying mechanism than internal reflection.

Everyday choices obviously need no such delay.

Disappointment: the error signal

For the Reflector, the emotion that signals a mismatch is disappointment.

It typically shows up when:

• a major decision was rushed, without letting the cycle run;
• the environment was endured rather than chosen;
• the company made it impossible to tell what was theirs from what was picked up.

Its opposite — the signature of the type — is surprise. A well-placed Reflector describes a life that surprises them, in the sense that it is never quite the one they anticipated.

What changes day to day

On place. This is the main lever. A Reflector in an environment that does not suit them cannot compensate with method.

On time alone. Necessary, and not as a comfort: it is the only moment the system stops sampling and one’s own state becomes distinguishable.

On self-reference. What comes back across different contexts and months probably belongs to the person. What only appears in one context comes from the context.

On rhythm. Follow the lunar phases rather than a constant pace. What is easy one week can be costly the next, with nothing else having changed.

Where to start

1. Confirm the type by calculation. Since the Reflector is defined by the total absence of definition, birth time matters here more than anywhere.
2. Track a full cycle — 28 days — of energy level and mood, alongside place and people present. The pattern is usually readable within the first cycle.
3. Push the next major decision out by one cycle, and see whether the question looks different at the end of it.
4. Look back at past disappointments and check, each time, whether the decision had been rushed.

If a description does not speak to you, do not force it. These lenses exist to name what you already recognise.
